The Jewish Museum in Prague presents its own exhibition space for the presentation of short-term thematic exhibitions, the Robert Guttmann Gallery. The gallery is an exhibition space with an area of more than 80 square meters, which meets all requirements for the modern presentation of art and museum collections.
The gallery is located on the ground floor on the northeast side of the new Jewish Museum complex . It is primarily intended for visual exhibitions of the museum’s collection, which has so far only been presented to a very limited extent. According to the profile of the collection, the exhibitions will focus primarily on domestic Jewish artists of the late 19th and first half of the 20th century , but at the same time, the gallery also aims to present post-war and especially contemporary modern art .
The gallery was named after the famous Prague naive painter Robert Guttmann. It will thus remind the current generation of his name and, with its focus, help young artists in their search for an original and original artistic expression. However, he does not avoid historical exhibitions either, documenting in particular the share of Jewish artists in various areas of Czech cultural life.
