An easy 20-minute detour from Hrub\u00e1 Sk\u00e1la leads to \u201cZ\u00e1meck\u00e1 vyhl\u00eddka\u201d (Castle View), an overlook well worth the extra effort for its vistas. Hikers are treated to views of <strong data-start=\"4053\" data-end=\"4083\">sheer 40\u202fm sandstone walls<\/strong> across the water and lush forest all around. Kids especially love running alongside the river \u2013 the suspended gallery over the water gives a mild thrill without being unsafe. <em data-start=\"4298\" data-end=\"4304\">Tip:<\/em> Start in <strong data-start=\"4314\" data-end=\"4324\">Semily<\/strong> and follow the red-marked trail to <strong data-start=\"4360\" data-end=\"4373\">Podsp\u00e1lov<\/strong>, where you can visit an Art Nouveau hydroelectric plant at trail\u2019s end. The route is mostly flat; wear sturdy sandals or sneakers (parts of the path are gravel and can be damp). There are picnic spots and informational signs (in Czech\/English) along this educational nature trail.<\/p>\n<h2 data-start=\"4657\" data-end=\"4675\">Moderate Trails<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"4679\" data-end=\"5935\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong data-start=\"4679\" data-end=\"4739\">Karl\u0161tejn Castle Route (Bohemian Karst, Central Bohemia)<\/strong> <\/span>\u2013 <em data-start=\"4742\" data-end=\"4828\">11\u202fkm point-to-point, ~3 hours; Karl\u0161tejn is ~40 min by train from Prague; Moderate.<\/em> This is one of the <strong data-start=\"4848\" data-end=\"4890\">most picturesque day hikes near Prague<\/strong>, combining history and nature. From <strong data-start=\"4966\" data-end=\"4979\">Karl\u0161tejn<\/strong> train station, the trail (marked in yellow then green) ascends to viewpoints of the iconic <strong data-start=\"5071\" data-end=\"5091\">Karl\u0161tejn Castle<\/strong> \u2013 a 14th-century Gothic castle perched above the Berounka River. Wear good shoes (parts of the forest path can be muddy) and bring enough water for the 3-hour hike. The red-marked loop trail (~12.8\u202fkm) takes you through <strong data-start=\"6287\" data-end=\"6370\">imposing rocky gorges, wooded slopes, open meadows, and along a stream-fed lake<\/strong>. Starting at the McDonald\u2019s parking area (S\u00eddl. \u010cerven\u00fd Vrch tram stop), the trail winds past the <strong data-start=\"6508\" data-end=\"6523\">\u0160\u00e1rka creek<\/strong>, up to panoramic clifftop viewpoints, and through the small village of <strong data-start=\"6595\" data-end=\"6608\">Jener\u00e1lka<\/strong> with its historic chateau. Terrain ranges from paved paths to dirt trails; there are a few gradual climbs but no very steep sections (total elevation ~250\u202fm). <em data-start=\"6846\" data-end=\"6852\">Tip:<\/em> In summer, pack a swimsuit \u2013 <strong data-start=\"6882\" data-end=\"6934\">Divok\u00e1 \u0160\u00e1rka has a popular outdoor swimming pool<\/strong> nestled in the valley, perfect for a post-hike cool-down. There are also seasonal kiosks\/refreshments along the route, but it\u2019s wise to carry a bottle of water and snacks. This nature reserve is <strong data-start=\"7208\" data-end=\"7227\">family-friendly<\/strong> and easily accessible by public transport, making it a favorite \u201ccity escape\u201d hike for Prague locals.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"7372\" data-end=\"9103\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong data-start=\"7372\" data-end=\"7434\">Prav\u010dick\u00e1 Br\u00e1na Trail (Bohemian Switzerland National Park)<\/strong> <\/span>\u2013 <em data-start=\"7437\" data-end=\"7554\">~8\u202fkm round-trip (including viewpoints), 2\u20133 hours; H\u0159ensko is ~130\u202fkm north of Prague (~2 hours by car); Moderate.<\/em> This classic hike leads to <strong data-start=\"7582\" data-end=\"7601\">Prav\u010dick\u00e1 br\u00e1na<\/strong>, the largest natural sandstone arch in Europe and the emblem of Bohemian Switzerland. The well-marked trail begins in <strong data-start=\"7720\" data-end=\"7731\">H\u0159ensko<\/strong> (near the German border) and climbs gently through forest to the arch over ~4\u202fkm (about 90 minutes one-way). Along the way you\u2019ll walk beneath towering cliffs and through fairytale-like woods \u2013 scenes so enchanting that parts of <em data-start=\"8000\" data-end=\"8026\">The Chronicles of Narnia<\/em> were filmed here. At the top, you\u2019re rewarded with <strong data-start=\"8078\" data-end=\"8132\">breathtaking views of the sandstone canyon country<\/strong> and a close-up of the 16\u202fm tall rock arch. Consider extending your adventure by visiting the <em data-start=\"8989\" data-end=\"9012\">Kamenice River Gorges<\/em> nearby, where you can ride a boat through sandstone canyons \u2013 also a memorable, easy walk.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"9107\" data-end=\"10815\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong data-start=\"9107\" data-end=\"9175\">Bohemian Paradise \u201cRock City\u201d Loop (Dneboh \u2013 Prachov Rocks area)<\/strong><\/span> \u2013 <em data-start=\"9178\" data-end=\"9250\">12\u202fkm loop, 3\u20134 hours; ~90\u202fkm NE of Prague (~1 hour by car); Moderate.<\/em> This hike in the <strong data-start=\"9268\" data-end=\"9309\">Bohemian Paradise Geopark (\u010cesk\u00fd r\u00e1j)<\/strong> takes you on a loop through a spectacular \u201crock city\u201d of sandstone formations, combined with castle ruins. Starting near <strong data-start=\"9431\" data-end=\"9441\">Dneboh<\/strong> village, the trail (nicknamed the Dneboh Loop) winds through a <strong data-start=\"9505\" data-end=\"9560\">labyrinth of towering sandstone towers and boulders<\/strong> in a pine forest. The path leads through serene <strong data-start=\"11142\" data-end=\"11160\">wooded canyons<\/strong> and then up a steep section of wooden steps to the <strong data-start=\"11212\" data-end=\"11230\">Pokli\u010dky rocks<\/strong> \u2013 unusual mushroom-shaped sandstone towers formed over 80 million years.
