The synagogue in Volyn stands in the former Jewish street, today in \u017di\u017ekov. It was built as one of the few in the Empire style in the years 1838-1840 on the site of the new ghetto, and was renovated in 1890.<\/p>\n
The former synagogue consists of its own synagogue No. 250 and the former rabbi’s house No. 249 . Both of these houses have a common seven-axis empire facade, consisting of a central three-axis risalit and two symmetrical side parts. Above the entrance is a shield with a Hebrew inscription and lions holding a shield with a clock . Services were held in the synagogue until World War II.<\/p>\n
In 1956, the building was adapted into a cinema and in previous years it even served as a discotheque. The local primary art school (rabbi’s house) is located in the south wing\u00a0 . The synagogue is protected as a\u00a0 cultural monument of the Czech Republic and its reconstruction is currently being planned.<\/p>\n
