Best Hotels in Prague by Theme

Themed shortlists of Prague hotels, so you can choose by what matters to your trip rather than by star rating alone.

Prague has hotels in former monasteries and Baroque palaces, design hotels by well-known architects, a hotel on a boat, family hotels plugged into a water park and plenty of small boutique houses on the cobbled lanes below the Castle. With several hundred properties in the city, the hard part is not finding a room but finding the right one.

Every hotel in these guides has its own detailed page on Prague Hints with address, facilities and contacts, and every one was checked as operating in October 2026. If you are still deciding on a neighbourhood, start with Where to Stay in Prague.

Booking tips

  • Book early for May, September and December. These months sell out first, especially in Malá Strana and the Old Town.
  • Check the hill. Hradčany and upper Malá Strana are beautiful but steep and cobbled; with heavy luggage, ask about taxi access to the door.
  • Air conditioning is not universal. Many historic buildings rely on thick walls and open windows. Confirm it if you travel in July or August.
  • City tax is extra. Prague charges a local fee per person per night, and it is often not included in the online rate.
  • Arriving by air? See Prague Airport to City Centre for buses, taxis and transfer times.

Najczęściej zadawane pytania

Which area of Prague is best to stay in?

For a first visit, the Old Town or Malá Strana puts you within walking distance of almost everything. New Town is more practical and better value, while Vinohrady and Karlín feel more local and are a short tram or metro ride from the centre.

Are four-star hotels in Prague good value?

Generally yes. Many four-star hotels occupy historic buildings in central locations, and the gap in comfort to five-star is often smaller than the gap in price.

Can I bring my dog to a Prague hotel?

Many Prague hotels accept pets, usually for a nightly fee and sometimes with size limits. Our pet-friendly guide lists hotels whose policies allow them; confirm the details when you book.

Do Prague hotels have parking?

Some do, usually in a garage for a daily fee, but the historic centre has narrow streets and restricted zones. If you are driving, choose a hotel with its own parking and ask for directions to the entrance.

Photography & sessionsMany of these hotels have courtyards, terraces and staircases that make a beautiful start to a photo session before moving into the Old Town at sunrise. Kemal Onur Ozman photographs couples and families across Prague.
