Best 7 Family-Friendly Hotels in Prague

Seven Prague hotels where children are part of the plan, from a water-park hotel on the edge of the city to two-room apartments near Old Town Square.

Prague is easy with children in one way and tiring in another. The centre is compact and the trams run often, but there are cobbles everywhere, a steep climb to the Castle, and plenty of hotel rooms in old buildings never meant to sleep four. A hotel works for a family here when it gives everyone some space, offers something to do once the children have had enough of churches, or simply cuts down the walking.

Every hotel below is one we have written about in detail on Prague Hints, chosen to cover different kinds of trip: a resort stay by a water park, apartments and connecting rooms in the centre, and practical bases for families arriving by car. For each, we say what suits families, using only what the hotel itself describes.

1. Aquapalace Hotel Prague

Pražská 137, Čestlice · Průhonice, just outside Prague · 4-star

Aquapalace Hotel Prague is the obvious pick if your children judge a holiday by the number of slides. The four-star hotel is built into the Aquapalace Praha complex, billed as the largest indoor water park in Central Europe, with direct access from the hotel to the slides and relaxation zones. It has 231 rooms and suites, and its own site lists family rooms alongside the pools and a sauna world for the adults.

The trade-off is distance: allow up to 40 minutes to the historic centre, so treat this as a few days of swimming with one trip into town. Garage parking makes it simple if you drive, and it calls itself pet-friendly. Ask whether water-park entry is included in your rate.

2. LUXURY FAMILY HOTEL Royal Palace Prague

Letenská 11 · Malá Strana · 5-star

The LUXURY FAMILY HOTEL Royal Palace Prague is here for its location. This small five-star hotel of 35 rooms sits on Letenská in Malá Strana, close enough to walk up to Prague Castle in the morning and across Charles Bridge in the evening, which spares small legs a lot of tram changes. Some rooms look out to the Castle or over the Old Town roofs.

We have no record of dedicated family rooms, so ask about bed configurations and cots before booking. There is a private spa with sauna, steam bath and jacuzzi, a restaurant serving traditional Czech food, and facilities for guests with disabilities, worth asking about if you bring a pushchair.

3. Michelangelo Grand Hotel

Vladislavova 20 · Nové Město · 5-star

Michelangelo Grand Hotel solves the classic central-Prague problem of fitting four people into one room with interconnected rooms and spacious suites, and its website also offers triple rooms aimed at families. The five-star hotel is a few steps from Wenceslas Square, so most of the centre is walkable.

Book two interconnecting rooms if your children want their own space but you still want a door between you rather than a corridor. Garage parking, rare in this part of town, is a real help if you arrive by car.

4. Blue Orange Resort

Tupolevova 676 · Letňany (Praha 9) · 4-star

Blue Orange Resort, officially Blue Orange Business Resort Prague, looks like a trade-fair hotel, five minutes’ drive from the PVA Letňany exhibition centre. But it is the only hotel on this list that offers babysitting, and it keeps a children’s corner to entertain younger guests. With 32 rooms it stays small and quiet, with a fitness centre and a wellness area with sauna and steam.

It suits families who are driving or combining a visit with an event at Letňany. On-site parking is available and pets are accepted for a nightly fee. The centre is further away, so plan full city days, and book babysitting in advance.

5. Aparthotel Davids

Biskupský dvůr 3 · Nové Město

Aparthotel Davids is for parents who want a door to close between the children’s beds and their own. Its two-room apartments sleep three to five, which in central Prague often means paying for two hotel rooms instead. With ten rooms and apartments in all, the service is personal.

The Powder Tower, the Astronomical Clock and Old Town Square are an easy walk away, so you can head back for a nap and go out again. It books up early in busy months; reserve ahead and confirm your apartment’s layout and whether it has cooking facilities.

6. Hilton Prague

Pobřežní 1 · Karlín (Praha 8)

Hilton Prague is the big-hotel option. It says plainly that it welcomes families (and pets), and its fitness centre and spa include a swimming pool, part of a wellness area of around 2,000 m². After a morning of museums, a pool on site beats anything else here except Aquapalace.

The hotel stands in Karlín beside the Vltava, with sun terraces and the Beer Garden Karlín overlooking the river. The Old Town is within walking distance, though with small children a short tram ride is kinder. Ask about pool hours and age rules at check-in.

7. Mamaison Residence Downtown Prague

Na Rybníčku 5 · Nové Město (Praha 2) · 4-star

Mamaison Residence Downtown Prague earns its place with something most central hotels skip: a games room with table tennis, table football and a children’s play area. For the grown-ups there is a gym and a wellness centre with a sauna world, massages and a private whirlpool.

Families can choose hotel rooms or apartments, and some units have balconies or terraces with views of Prague Castle. Underground parking takes care of the car, pets are allowed, and I. P. Pavlova metro station is close by, one stop from the top of Wenceslas Square.

Practical tips

  • Plan for cobbles. The Old Town and Malá Strana are paved with uneven stone and the climb to the Castle is steep. A sturdy pushchair or a baby carrier copes better than a light stroller.
  • Ask for the exact bed layout. A “family room” can mean a real second bedroom or a double with a sofa bed. Ask how many proper beds there are and whether cots cost extra.
  • Check child fares. Young children ride Prague’s public transport free and older ones pay reduced or no fares; check the current age limits before buying tickets.
  • Driving in? Pick a hotel with parking. Street parking in the centre is largely reserved for residents. Aquapalace, Michelangelo, Blue Orange and Mamaison all have their own.
  • Spa age rules. Hotel saunas and whirlpools often have minimum ages or family hours, so ask before you promise anyone a swim.

שאלות נפוצות

Which Prague hotel has a water park?

Aquapalace Hotel Prague is connected directly to the Aquapalace Praha water park in Čestlice, just outside the city. In town, Hilton Prague in Karlín has a swimming pool in its wellness area. Check whether access is included in your rate.

Which area of Prague is best for families?

Nové Město and Malá Strana keep the big sights within walking distance, so a midday rest at the hotel is easy; Malá Strana is the hillier of the two. Outer districts such as Letňany or Čestlice give you more space and parking, at the cost of longer trips into the centre.

Are apartments better than hotel rooms for families?

Often, especially if your children go to bed earlier than you do. Aparthotel Davids has two-room apartments for three to five people, and Mamaison Residence Downtown offers apartments as well as hotel rooms.

Can I find a babysitter through a Prague hotel?

Blue Orange Resort lists babysitting. Elsewhere, ask reception well before your stay rather than on the day.

Can we bring the family dog?

Aquapalace, Hilton Prague and Mamaison Residence Downtown all say they accept pets, and Blue Orange Resort takes them for a nightly fee. Fees and size limits vary, so confirm when you book.
