The Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra (SOČR) gives its New Year’s Concert at the Rudolfinum on Saturday 2 January 2027 at 19:30. This season is the orchestra’s hundredth. Instead of the usual waltzes, the programme is lively Baroque and Classical music under Václav Luks, the founder of Collegium 1704 and one of the leading Czech conductors of period-style performance. It is a calm way to start the year after the New Year’s Eve crowds.

The concert goes out live on Czech Radio Vltava. There is a free meet-the-artists talk in the Talich Lounge on the first floor from 18:30.
The Czech Philharmonic’s New Year Concerts
The Czech Philharmonic holds its own gala in the same building a day or two earlier, on 31 December at 11:00 and 15:00 and on 1 January at 15:00 and 20:00. Vasily Petrenko conducts, with Simona Šaturová (soprano) and Jan Mráček (violin), and Marek Eben hosts. The programme includes Mozart, Beethoven’s Leonore Overture No. 3, Massenet’s Méditation and Dukas’s The Sorcerer’s Apprentice. The 31 December 11:00 performance is already sold out.
Practical Notes
- Tickets: The Radio Symphony concert costs 250–1,300 CZK through the orchestra’s website or the Rudolfinum box office. The Czech Philharmonic gala costs 200–2,900 CZK.
- Getting there: The Rudolfinum is on Jan Palach Square, next to Staroměstská station on metro line A.
- Dress: This is one of the few concerts where Prague audiences dress up. A jacket or a smart dress will not look out of place.
