Letní Letná is the reason Letná Park fills with tents every August. It is an international festival of contemporary circus — acrobatics, physical theatre and live music, with no animal acts and none of the sawdust-and-sequins tradition. For three weeks the park above the river becomes the busiest cultural site in Prague, and much of the surrounding programme is free.

What It Actually Is
New circus — nový cirkus in Czech — is closer to dance and physical theatre than to the circus most people picture. Companies build a full show around acrobatics, with narrative, staging and a live score. The 2026 main programme brings Cirque La Compagnie 그리고 Compagnie Rasposo from France, Australia’s Circa, and the Sawdust Symphony ensemble.
Alongside the ticketed tent shows there is theatre for children, cabaret, workshops and a bar with one of the best views in the city. Many people come for the site itself rather than a specific show.
How to Do It Well
- Book the main tent early. The international companies sell out, often days ahead.
- Come at 17:00 even without a ticket. The site, food stalls and outdoor stages are open and free, and the light over the city from Letná at that hour is the best in Prague.
- Children’s programme runs in the afternoon — it is genuinely good, and cheaper than the evening shows.
- It rains sometimes. The tents are fine; the walk up is not. Bring a jacket.
While You Are on Letná
The park has the city’s best-known beer garden and a panorama over every bridge on the Vltava. It is a short walk from the Old Town across Čechův most, and the sunset view from the terrace is one of the best views in Prague.
