Prague Sounds 2026
The festival known for most of its life as Strings of Autumn (Struny podzimu) has been called Prague Sounds since 2022. It started at Prague Castle in 1996, and 2026 is its 30th edition. It runs from 2 to 22 November 2026, with the same mix it has always had: new classical music, jazz, hip-hop and electronica, often on the same stage. This year’s venues are Signal Space, La Fabrika, Lucerna, Salvátor Church, Divadlo X10 and the Rudolfinum. The festival ends with a four-night residency at the Rudolfinum.
Highlights:
- 2 November, Signal Space: Brooklyn Rider play a selection of Philip Glass string quartets, with a multimedia staging made for the festival.
- 10 November, Lucerna Grand Hall: the pianist Hiromi.
- 19 November, Rudolfinum: Steve Reich: 90, a tribute for the composer’s 90th birthday, with Six Pianos as its centrepiece.
- 20 November, Rudolfinum: the jazz singer Samara Joy.
- 22 November, Rudolfinum: Anoushka Shankar plays her Chapters with the Prague Symphony Orchestra.
Most concerts start at 20:00. Tickets are sold through the official site, praguesounds.cz, and the Rudolfinum nights usually sell out first. In the same month the Firkušný Piano Festival fills the Rudolfinum with recitals (3–9 November). If you are in town for more than one evening, our Prague in November guide and concerts in Prague page cover what else is on.
A Festival Without Genre Walls
Founded in 1996 at Prague Castle, the festival was built to bring international talent to Prague and to cross genre lines. Over three decades it has grown into an eclectic platform, from intimate chamber settings to bold, avant-garde performances.
Why It Stands Out
Prague is often flooded with “tourist-trap” classical concerts, where the same few Vivaldi or Mozart pieces are performed repeatedly in historical churches. Prague Sounds is a departure from this. It is curated for those who want depth, quality and a contemporary perspective on sound.
The programming is known for its crossover approach: classical performers share the bill with jazz musicians and electronic artists, so whether you prefer chamber music or hip-hop fusion, there is usually something for you.
Tips for Attendees
- Book early: Tickets for the most popular shows sell out quickly.
- Check the schedule: The Prague Sounds website (praguesounds.cz) has the current programme and venue information.
- Dress: Smart-casual attire suits most venues.
