Seven hotels a short walk from Charles Bridge, six on the Malá Strana bank and one on the Old Town side, and what each is really like to stay in.
Charles Bridge is the reason most people want to stay in this part of Prague, and also the reason it gets so busy. By late morning the bridge is packed with tour groups and caricaturists; at sunrise it is far quieter, and the people who get to enjoy that are the ones sleeping nearby. Most hotels here are on the Malá Strana (Lesser Town) bank, around Kampa island and the small squares below the Castle. The area suits couples and first-time visitors who want to walk everywhere. It suits heavy suitcases less: the lanes are cobbled, and several of these old buildings have no lift.
Every hotel below is one we have written about in detail on Prague Hints, and we checked that each was still taking guests before publishing. The mix runs from a ten-room house on Kampa and self-catering apartments to a 77-room hotel on the Old Town side.

1. Miss Sophie’s Charles Bridge
Malostranské náměstí 28 · Malá Strana · 4-star
Miss Sophie’s Charles Bridge is a four-star apartment hotel on the top floor of a Rococo palace on Lesser Town Square, where Mostecká street runs straight down to the bridge tower. Every apartment has a well-equipped kitchenette, so breakfast happens on your own schedule.
The Malostranské náměstí tram stop is right in front of the building. There is no spa on site, but guests can use the private wellness spa, with whirlpool and infrared sauna, at the partner Miss Sophie’s New Town. The square is a busy tram junction, so light sleepers should mention it when booking.

2. OREA Place Charles Bridge
Míšeňská 66/12 · Malá Strana · 4-star
OREA Place Charles Bridge, formerly Lokal Inn, is a self-service apartment house in a Baroque building on Míšeňská, right next to the Malá Strana end of the bridge. It suits a quiet few nights, or a longer stay when you would rather have an apartment than a hotel room.
Know the trade-offs: there is no lift and no air conditioning, which matters with heavy luggage and in a hot July. As it is self-service, agree check-in details in advance. Pets are listed as allowed.

3. Hotel at the Golden Scissors (U Zlatých nůžek)
Na Kampě 6 · Malá Strana (Kampa island) · 4-star
The Hotel at the Golden Scissors (U Zlatých nůžek) is on Na Kampě, the Kampa island square where the staircase from Charles Bridge comes down. This four-star has just ten light, spacious rooms, and many look straight across to Prague Castle, which is the main reason to stay.
Its restaurant serves Czech dishes with Moravian wines, there is on-site parking (unusual around here), and families are welcome; pets are not. With only ten rooms, book early and ask for a Castle-view room in writing.

4. Bishop’s House
Dražického náměstí 6 · Malá Strana · 4-star
Bishop’s House is a boutique four-star on Dražického náměstí, about 60 metres from the bridge. Its 26 rooms mix classic and modern decor, and the hotel makes a point of quiet, well-insulated rooms, which counts for a lot this close to the crowds.
Breakfast is a hot and cold buffet with local pastries, and the cosy bar pours Czech pilsner and wine in the evening. Pets are welcome, and the staff are keen to share local advice.

5. Archibald At the Charles Bridge
Na Kampě 15 · Malá Strana (Kampa island) · 4-star
Archibald At the Charles Bridge is a four-star on Kampa, in a 16th-century building protected as a heritage monument. What sets it apart is outdoor space: a private hotel garden, and garden-level rooms with their own seating outside. There is also a cosy library.
Pick your room by priority. Select rooms overlook Kampa, the Vltava and the bridge itself, while the garden rooms trade the view for a morning coffee outdoors. Pets are accepted on request, and drivers will find paid public parking nearby. It is a perfect base for a sunrise walk across the bridge.

6. Charles Bridge Palace
Anenské náměstí 1 · Old Town · 4-star
Charles Bridge Palace is the Old Town pick, on a small square a short walk from the bridge’s Old Town end. It is a château-style four-star with 77 rooms, part of the Pinelli Hotels group, with Old Town Square and the Jewish Quarter within walking distance.
Breakfast is a buffet of Czech and international dishes, and the concierge can arrange tours and restaurant bookings. The hotel says many rooms have river and Castle views, so request one. With 77 rooms against the Golden Scissors’ ten, it is worth checking when the small Malá Strana houses are full.

7. Hotel U tří pštrosů
Dražického náměstí 12 · Malá Strana
Hotel U tří pštrosů (At the Three Ostriches) stands at the foot of the bridge in a house built in 1597, named after the ostriches painted on its facade, a nod to the feather maker who once traded here. Inside are painted wooden ceilings and antique furniture, and the summer garden is tucked between the bridge and the Lesser Town Bridge Tower.
Rooms and apartments are spread over four floors with no lift. A hot buffet breakfast is included, and the restaurant, under Renaissance-era painted ceilings, is known for fresh fish. Pets are welcome and parking is available. Ask for a room facing the bridge towers.

Practical tips
- Cross the bridge early. Charles Bridge is far quieter at sunrise; from these hotels you can be on it before the first tour groups.
- Pack for cobbles and stairs. Malá Strana streets are cobbled and steep in places, and OREA Place and U tří pštrosů have no lift. A backpack or a small case makes arrival easier.
- Get the view in writing. Views vary room by room, even within one hotel. If it matters, request it when booking and check the confirmation.
- Think twice about driving. The lanes are narrow and parking is scarce. Confirm arrangements with the hotel before you set off.
- Ride up, walk down. Trams run from Malostranské náměstí up the hill towards the Castle. Take one up and stroll back down to the river.
Häufig gestellte Fragen
Is it better to stay on the Malá Strana or the Old Town side of Charles Bridge?
Malá Strana is generally quieter in the evening and closer to the Castle, but hillier. The Old Town side puts you nearer Old Town Square, the Jewish Quarter and a wider choice of restaurants and bars. Six of these seven hotels are in Malá Strana; Charles Bridge Palace is the Old Town option.
Which hotels near Charles Bridge have a view of the bridge?
Select rooms at Archibald At the Charles Bridge overlook the river and the bridge, and Hotel U tří pštrosů has rooms facing the bridge towers. For Castle views, look at the Hotel at the Golden Scissors and Charles Bridge Palace. Views depend on the room, so ask when you book.
Are there pet-friendly hotels near Charles Bridge?
Yes. Bishop’s House and Hotel U tří pštrosů welcome pets, Archibald accepts them on request, and OREA Place lists pets as allowed. The Hotel at the Golden Scissors does not take pets. Fees and rules vary, so confirm before you travel.
How far ahead should I book?
Several of these hotels are small (the Golden Scissors has ten rooms, Bishop’s House 26), so the best rooms go early, especially for weekends, spring, autumn and the Christmas market season.
