Object History

The house on the corner of Seminářská Street and Karlova Street stands on the site of a former Romanesque estate, with a Renaissance core later modified in Baroque style. The richly decorated narrow facade has two windows on each of the three floors. Historically, the house has been known by various names, reflecting its storied past and notable residents, including apostolic nuncio Spinelli and Jesuit missionaries.

The building underwent significant restoration in the 1950s and a general reconstruction between 1983-1987, preserving its historical elements while updating its structure. Notable figures such as St. Sebastian, St. Roch, and St. John of Nepomuk adorn the facade, adding to the building’s historical charm and significance.
