Archeoskanzen Trocnov – A Glimpse into Medieval Village Life
Introduction Discover the charm of medieval village life at Archeoskanzen Trocnov, located within the Jan Žižka Memorial complex in Trocnov. This archaeological open-air museum focuses on the High Middle Ages, showcasing period buildings and construction methods. Scheduled for completion by the end of 2024, it offers an immersive experience into the daily lives of medieval villagers.
Zemansky Manor Step into the world of lower-ranked natives with a tour of the Zemansky Manor. Explore a dwelling house, granary, stable, barn, and other small buildings that depict farming and craftsmanship of the time. Gain insight into the lifestyle and privacy of the manor’s residents through meticulously reconstructed interiors.
Rural Settlement Experience the diversity of medieval village architecture in the Rural Settlement area. Visit cottager dwellings, farmer’s yards, woodsheds, gardens, fields, and animal enclosures typical of the pre-Hussite period. This section provides a comprehensive view of rural life and its inhabitants during the Middle Ages.
Visitor Experience Starting from April 2023, guided tours offer visitors a firsthand look at the Archeoskanzen. Explore not only the village reconstructions but also enjoy a permanent exhibition of original costumes from the film “Jan Žižka” directed by Petr Jákl, premiered in cinemas in 2022. By 2024, the visitor and education center is expected to enhance the learning experience further.
