Stuttering Zeman, Kokořín Waterman, Pacifikus or Pretty Executioner’s Daughter… These are just a few of the legends, the story of which takes place in well-known and forgotten places of the picturesque landscapes of Kokořín and Podbezdězí. You can discover many more mysterious stories while wandering around these parts, to which you will certainly be inspired by the exterior  exhibition on Náměstí Míru in Mšen. 

The exhibition will open  on Friday, July 8 at 6 p.m.  and you can visit it until the end of August 2022.  At the grand opening, you will not only have a dramatic reading of selected legends, but also a personal meeting with the animated characters from their pages.

You can also look forward to an  interactive guide , which will be a good helper during your summer wanderings in search of engaging stories of the local region. The exhibition was jointly prepared by the Mělník Regional Museum and the Museum of Mladoboleslavska, a contribution organization of the Central Bohemian Region. This is the first initiative of a planned professional popularization project, the aim of which is to bring closer the often intertwined, sometimes half-forgotten personalities, past, reputations and attractions of the two neighboring regions of Mělnice and Mladoboleslavsk. In the future, lovers of the region can look forward to, among other things, an interregional search, professional excursions, events for families with children, or tourist activities. Both museum institutions thus popularize stories and characters from recently released titles. Last year, the Mělník Regional Museum in partnership with MAS Vyhlídky once again published for a quarter of a century Rumors from Kokořínsk, Mšensk and Podbezdězí collected by Jiří Zubík and Josef Houžva. In 2019, with the financial support of the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic, the Mladoboleslavska Museum published the publication of the Legend of Podbezdězí recorded by JE Konopas. Both books are available in museums. The event was created with the support of the City of Mšena.

In cooperation with the Nomadic Museum of Ghosts, we are preparing an exhibition that will make you very scared. The Kokořín ghosts will be presented in the small hall and basement of the Mělník Regional Museum in life size, and there will be a competition connected with a visit to their abodes in Kokořínsk. The Kokořín waterman, the white lady from Hradsko, the elf from Slatinné vrch, the Klemper robber or the Pacifikus from Skalsko are looking forward to seeing you…
The opening with a spooky fairy tale takes place on Thursday, June 23 from 5:00 p.m.
