The dominant feature of the town of Štramberk is the ruins of the Strallenberg (Štramberk) castle with a cylindrical tower called Trúba, which is located on the rocky top of the so-called Castle Hill. After extensive reconstruction, Trúba is now accessible again.
From the once massive medieval castle, several massive walls , mainly the inner castle, and especially the reconstructed guard tower serving as a tourist lookout tower have been preserved to this day. Trúba or “Kulatina” – as the tower is popularly called in the local region, has become a kind of symbol of the once massive castle, the beautiful city and the local picturesque region.
In the castle grounds, you can enjoy sitting and refreshments in the tourist hut Dr. Handfuls and sale of folk crafts, souvenirs and tickets to the castle tower in Jaroňk’s cosy .
Trúba Castle Tower, 40 m high, is accessible via a three-pronged wooden staircase up to an extended wooden observation deck, from which the visitor can enjoy a wonderful view of the small town of Štramberk with the square under the castle, the peaks of Kotouč and Bílá hora , the Beskydy massif , the Starojický hill with the castle and the so-called Moravian Gate . On your way up the stairs, you can see the exhibition ” The Journey to the Memory of Štramberská Trúba “, which is 15 illuminated panels with photos and stories that have accompanied Štramberk Castle from the beginning to the present day, with a small glimpse into the future of how Trúba might one day look like.
