Staré Hrady castle and chateau

The castle and chateau of Staré Hrady is located in Bohemian Paradise, south of Jičín – right next to the town of Libáň. The rich program here offers five fairy-tale sightseeing circuits and 2 historical sightseeing circuits. You will be guided by living fairy-tale creatures in the roles of guides.

Staré Hrady Castle and Chateau is your tip for a trip for children and adults. Originally a Gothic castle with a Renaissance castle and ante-castle is located in Bohemian Paradise – south of Jičín near the village of Libáň. The first written mention dates back to 1340. Albrecht from Valdštejn himself , who bought the castle in 1628, is also closely connected with the castle and chateau. Today, history and fairy tales are perfectly combined here.

Every visitor here can choose from a really rich program, which consists of several fairy-tale and historical tour circuits , in which they will see 450 fairy-tale creatures – e.g. dragons, princesses, knights, giants, devils, watermen, sprites, witches and many others.

You will be guided by real living fairy-tale creatures – beautiful princesses, brave knights or cheerful witches.

All year round you can visit the castle’s fairy-tale dungeon  with giants, watermen, devils and dragons (new – Giant emerald dragons),  the castle’s fairy-tale land  with a lesson in magical flying on a broomstick, Zdravosvět and the Dragon Kingdom- you will take a fun and educational journey into the world of health and then visit the dragon royal chamber, where his majesty, the dragon king Rozumbradak XVI, reigns.

For adults, they have a tour of the castle and chateau with unique exhibits from the times of the Habsburg monarchy in the “How lived under the emperor Francis Joseph I.” New this year is a sightseeing circuit dedicated to the history of beer and brewing – “Beer – the treasure of the Czechs”.

Throughout the summer you can see the Great Magic Show and the battles between the good and evil knights – every Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday during the summer holidays.

Staré Hrady Castle and Chateau is also an ideal place fortrip for children from kindergartens and elementary schools . Here you can create a tailor-made school trip that suits you – they are open for pre-ordered tours at any time throughout the year.
