Best 7 Spa & Wellness Hotels in Prague

Seven Prague hotels where a day on the cobbles can end with a sauna, a massage or a swim without leaving the building.

Prague is a walking city, and a hilly one. Between the climb to the castle and the cobbles everywhere else, most visitors feel it in their legs by day two. A hotel with a proper spa turns that into part of the trip: sightsee in the morning, book a treatment for late afternoon, and go out to dinner feeling human again. It suits couples on a weekend break, winter visitors and conference travellers who need to switch off.

Every hotel below is one we have written about in detail on Prague Hints, and each has a spa or wellness centre. The list spans Malá Strana, the Old Town, Vinohrady, Holešovice and Karlín, from four-star to five-star. Not every hotel spa has a swimming pool, so we say where one is confirmed.

1. Mandarin Oriental Prague

Nebovidská 1 · Malá Strana · 5-star

Mandarin Oriental Prague has the most memorable spa setting in the city: the spa sits within the walls of a former Renaissance chapel, while the hotel’s 99 rooms and suites occupy a restored 14th-century monastery. The spa menu centres on tailored body and facial therapies, and there is a fitness centre for anyone who wants a workout first.

Afterwards, Spices Restaurant and Bar serves Asian cuisine, while the Terrace Grill and Lounge a Terasa handle lunch and drinks outdoors. There is a private garden, pets are welcome, and a private garage helps if you arrive by car. Book treatments when you book the room, especially for a weekend.

2. Four Seasons Hotel Prague

Veleslavínova 1098 · Staré Město · 5-star

Four Seasons Hotel Prague is the choice if you want spa time without leaving the Old Town. Many of its 157 rooms and suites look across to Prague Castle or Charles Bridge. The wellness centre offers a range of spa treatments, with a well-equipped fitness centre alongside.

Food is a reason to stay in for the evening: CottoCrudo serves Italian cooking, and there are Japanese dishes on the rooftop. Pets are welcome. Ask for a castle-view room; watching the castle light up after a massage is hard to beat.

3. Alchymist Grand Hotel & Spa

Tržiště 19 · Malá Strana · 5-star

Alchymist Grand Hotel & Spa puts the spa in its name and backs it up. The Ecsotica Spa has a sauna, a steam bath and what it calls a relaxation pool, so think unwinding rather than lengths, plus a gym. The decor is opulent, almost theatrical, and suits the historic building.

Dining is unusually varied for a boutique hotel: Aquarius serves Italian and Mediterranean dishes with fish, seafood and fresh pasta, Barocco Veneziano Café makes its own chocolate pralines, and the Lobby Bar pairs cognac with Cuban cigars. A Family Room and Family Suite make it workable with children.

4. Absolutum Wellness Hotel

Jablonského 4 · Holešovice · 4-star

Absolutum Wellness Hotel is a recently renovated 4-star hotel in Holešovice, away from the tourist crush. Wellness is the focus: the centre offers massages and other treatments, a sauna and private baths.

The 50 rooms include one adapted for guests with disabilities, and there is a restaurant, a lounge and parking; the hotel says pets are welcome. The Exhibition Grounds, Prague Zoo and the DOX Centre for Contemporary Art are nearby, and the historic centre is easy to reach by public transport.

5. Le Palais Art Hotel Prague

U Zvonařky 1 · Vinohrady

Le Palais Art Hotel Prague occupies a Belle Époque building in Vinohrady, one of Prague’s most attractive residential districts. Its 72 rooms and suites use quality materials and warm colours, and the wellness area pairs a spa offering massages with a gym and sauna.

Artista, the restaurant, serves Czech and international dishes. Pets are welcome and there are rooms for guests with disabilities. Staying here means evenings in Vinohrady’s cafés and wine bars rather than Old Town crowds, with the centre a short tram or metro ride away.

6. The Grand Mark Prague

Hybernská 12 · Nové Město · 5-star

The Grand Mark Prague is a 17th-century Baroque building with 78 rooms and suites, where bespoke furnishings meet a collection of modern art. A member of The Leading Hotels of the World, it has a spa, a fitness centre and a private garden, a quiet spot before or after a treatment.

Le Grill serves Bohemian cooking and grilled specialities. Families, LGBT travellers and pets are all welcome. With the Powder Tower and Old Town Square within walking distance, it combines a spa with a central base. Ask what treatments are on offer when you book.

7. Hilton Prague

Pobřežní 1 · Karlín

Hilton Prague is the pick if you actually want to swim. Its fitness centre and spa include a swimming pool, within a wellness area of around 2,000 square metres. Rooms have been refurbished, and families and pets are welcome.

The Cloud 9 Sky Bar & Lounge has wide city views, and the Beer Garden Karlín sun terraces look over the Vltava. It is also a conference hotel with a congress hall for more than 200, so weekdays can be busy. Karlín has a lively café scene, and the Old Town is within walking distance.

Practical tips

  • Book treatments with the room. Hotel spas have limited slots, and weekend afternoons go first.
  • Check what is included. Some hotels include sauna or pool access in the room rate and charge only for treatments; others charge for both. Ask before you arrive.
  • Know the sauna etiquette. In Central Europe it is common to use the sauna without swimwear, sitting on a towel. Hotel spas set their own rules, so read the sign at the door.
  • Children and spas. Wellness areas often have age limits or family hours, so check before promising anyone a swim.
  • Want a full spa town? Prague hotels are great for a few hours of recovery, but for a real spa cure see our guide to spa escapes in the Czech Republic and Prague.

Frequently asked questions

Which Prague spa hotels have a swimming pool?

Of our seven, Hilton Prague is the clearest choice, with a swimming pool in its large wellness area. Alchymist’s Ecsotica Spa has a relaxation pool. If a pool matters to you, confirm with the hotel before booking.

Can non-guests use hotel spas in Prague?

Policies vary. Some hotel spas sell treatments or day access to outside visitors when they have space, while others are for residents only. Contact the spa directly, and expect hotel guests to get priority.

Which spa hotel is best for a romantic weekend?

For atmosphere, the Mandarin Oriental’s spa in a former Renaissance chapel is hard to top. Alchymist suits couples who like opulent decor and a sauna-and-steam evening, and the Four Seasons adds castle views.

Are Prague spa hotels pet-friendly?

According to our information, all seven accept pets. Pets are generally not allowed in the spa areas themselves, and fees vary, so check when booking.

Is tipping expected at hotel spas?

It is not compulsory, but leaving around 10 per cent for a treatment you enjoyed is common in Prague. Some spas add a service charge, so check your bill first.
