Prague is compact enough that almost anywhere central works, but the neighbourhoods feel very different — and the difference between a good stay and a noisy one is usually four streets, not four stars. This guide covers which district fits which kind of trip, and links through to the hotels we have reviewed in each price band.

Practical tips
- Book early for May, September and December. These are the three months that sell out.
- Check the tram line, not just the map. Prague’s hills mean a 400 m walk can be a climb.
- Air conditioning is not standard in older buildings — confirm it if you are coming in July or August.
- City tax is charged per person per night and is usually not in the online rate.
