The extensive ruins of a Gothic castle are located on a hill above a water reservoir about 5 km from the village of Koryčany. It was built between 1327 and 1333, and was abandoned in 1720. The first rescue work was carried out in the 1930s, the next in 1940.

Over the centuries, the castle underwent several reconstructions and repairs. At the end of the seventeenth century, it lost its fortification significance and began to serve as a hunter’s residence and as accommodation for forest personnel.

The last chapter in the living history of one of the most beautiful Moravian castles closed in 1709. Since then, the castle has been deserted. It gradually began to deteriorate and people tried to save it in the 1930s and 1950s.

Now, several interesting events take place at the castle during the season. A sightseeing route along the isthmus wall under the training tower is also accessible. This viewpoint is secured by a wrought iron railing. It offers a beautiful view of the panorama of Chřibů . The civil association Polypeje takes care of the castle, which tries to save, document and make the monument accessible.
