Overview When hiking through the Šumava National Park, finding legal camping spots can be challenging. To address this, the park offers emergency overnight accommodations along the red tourist route, spanning from Železná Ruda to Nová Pec. These shelters provide a safe haven for hikers needing a night’s rest amidst the park’s pristine wilderness.

- Hůrka: Near Lake Laka, offering serene views of Polom and Dřevěná hůl mountains.
- Poledník: Below Poledník lookout, with proximity to Prášilské Lake and Javoří slať.
- Modrava: Along the Šumava Magistrala, near Roklanské stream and Trijezerní slať.
- Bučina: Close to the alpine viewpoint, offering panoramic views of Šumava.
- Strážný: Under Obecní vrch near Strážný village, accessible via the red and yellow routes.
- Nové Údolí: Near Nové Údolí crossroads, with access to Trístoličník and Studená Vltava.
- Under Jezerní Route: Located before Jezerní cesta, offering access to Kamenné moře and Plešné jezero.
