The castle is a protected site. It is made of significantly eroded compact sandstone rock with vertical or even overhanging rock faces and an extensive platform on the top, which stands 35 metres out of its surroundings. The rock is 100 m long and 60 m wide. In the course of time, people have adapted the rock’s shape in their favour and successively added new additions. A big amount of the rock’s space has been carved and additionally created inside of the rock as well as on its top, for both secular and sacred purposes. All these rock objects are thoroughly connected with each other.

There are no works of art inside of the castle. Although being empty, the site is very impressive. Without any exaggeration, the castle can boast a very unique genius loci.

A number of cultural events take place here, and the castle is also sought after because of its offer of weddings.

The church and the corridors of the cloister are available for these festive moments . You shouldn’t miss the cloister and the restored monastery vineyard on the southern aisles .

The length of the rock is 100 m and the width is 60 m. Over the course of history, the rock has been extensively adapted by people and gradually supplemented with other objects. A number of rock spaces, both secular and sacred, are carved and completed both inside the rock and on its surface. These rock objects are intricately connected to each other . Although the spaces are not installed, they are completely free of collection art objects, they are very impressive.

The castle in Sloup in Bohemia is interesting in itself, but it also hides one more peculiarity. If you go on a tour of it and go up to the top part, you will see stairs leading to the inside of the rock . This is where Petr Máchal used to meet (with his devilish friend Janko do pekla in the popular fairy-tale comedy S čerty nojų žerty ). The romantic fairy tale Anička s liškovém oříšky was also filmed at the castle .
